ATHENS, W.Va. – Shepherd University (3-6-1, 2-3-1 MEC) and Concord (5-3-2, 3-2-1 MEC) battled to a scoreless tie in MEC women's soccer action at Concord on Thursday afternoon.
Shepherd had a pair of chances in the first overtime session as sophomore midfielder Emma Bernardoni (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) hit a shot that went wide and another by freshman defender/midfielder Braden Pickett (Morgantown, W.Va./University) was saved by Concord goalkeeper Katie Maher.
Concord's Nina Perry took a shot that went wide in the second overtime as the teams finished in a deadlock.
Freshmen goalkeepers Lulu Fricks (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) (2) and Meghan Byers (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) (2) combined for four saves in the shutout effort for the Rams. Maher posted three saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
Concord had a 17-7 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they host Urbana for a 2:30 p.m. match for Youth Soccer Day.
