SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Raziyah Farrington scored 23 points and Brooklyn Pannell added 22 to lead University of Charleston (4-1, 2-0 MEC) to an 85-71 win over Shepherd (3-2, 1-1 MEC) in MEC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Monday night.
Sophomore forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) led the Rams with 21 points. She connected on 9-of-11 field goals with a 3-of-5 effort from the line.
Senior guard Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West York Area) added 15 points, while senior guard Kayla Tibbs (Leesburg, Va./Heritage/Glenville State) scored 14.
Anna Hayton scored 12 points, while Dionna Sanders had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Eagles.
Shepherd shot 58.7 percent (27-46) from the floor with a 44.4 percent effort (4-9) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 72.2 percent (13-18) of their free throws.
Charleston hit on 51 percent (26-51) from the floor with a 52.9 percent (9-17) performance from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles connected on 82.8 percent (24-29) of their free throws.
Charleston had a 30-18 edge in rebounds. The Rams forced 19 turnovers and committed 19.
The Rams return to action on Nov. 28 when they host West Virginia Wesleyan at 5:30 p.m.
