SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (22-9, 11-5 MEC) downed Glenville State (6-18, 2-14 MEC) (25-18, 25-23, 25-19) in MEC volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday afternoon.
Junior outside hitter Seone Goode (Fredericksburg, Va./Riverbend) recorded 12 kills, junior outside hitter Cambriea Hill (Columbia, Md./Hammond) had 11, and sophomore middle hitter Nicole Murray (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) added 10 to lead Shepherd.
Senior setter Becca Kern (Martinsburg, W.Va./Musselman) contributed 39 assists and junior libero Imani Major (Gainesville, Va./Millbrook) topped the Rams with 12 digs and three aces. Sophomore libero Milleysha Molina-Otero (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) posted 11 digs, while junior outside hitter Peyton Lindblad (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) had 10 digs to go along with eight kills.
Hannah McKown had 10 kills and nine digs to lead the Pioneers. Ai Mayazaki added a match-high 14 digs.
Glenville State used a 7-0 run to take a 22-19 lead in the second set. Shepherd closed the set on a 6-1 run to take a 25-23 win in the match's closest set.
The Rams await word on pairings for next week's MEC Tournament.
