Shepherd Women Fall at Radford

RADFORD, Va. – Sydney Nunley scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Radford (6-4) to a 60-46 win over Shepherd in women's basketball exhibition action at Radford on Saturday.

Nunley connected on 8-of-11 field goals with a 3-of-6 performance from the foul line.

Senior guard Kayla Tibbs (Leesburg, Va./Heritage/Glenville State) led the Rams with 13 points. She connected on 5-of-13 field goals with a 3-of-6 effort from three-point range.

Senior guard Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West  York Area) added 10 points and a game-high six assists. Sophomore forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) had nine points, while freshman guard Hannah Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) added eight points and seven boards. Senior forward Liz Moormann (New Market, Md./Oakdale) grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds.

Khiana Johnson added 15 points, while Lydia Rivers tossed in 10 for the Highlanders.

Radford had a 29-20 lead at the break.

Shepherd outscored Radford, 18-8, in the third period to take a 38-37 advantage heading into the final stanza.  Radford pulled away in the final period to gain the win as the Highlanders outpointed Shepherd, 23-8.

Shepherd shot 32.7 percent (17-52) from the floor with a 27.3 percent effort (3-11) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 36 percent (9-25) of their free throws.

Radford hit on 39.1 percent (25-64) from the floor with a 14.3 percent (2-14) performance from beyond the arc. The Highlanders connected on 61.5 percent (8-13) of their free throws.

Radford had a 43-42 edge in rebounds. The Rams forced 15 turnovers and committed 20.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Millersville University for a 2 p.m. contest.
