MANCHESTER, N.H. – Shepherd University went 2-0 to open the season in volleyball action on Saturday. The Rams posted a 25-22, 25-23, 25-20 win over Stonehill College (0-2) in an early match and added a 25-19, 15-25, 25-22, 25-21 triumph over Southern New Hampshire (0-1) in a later match.
Junior outside hitter Peyton Lindblad (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) recorded 12 kills and junior outside hitter Cambriea Hill (Columbia, Md./Hammond) added 10 for the Rams against Stonehill. Junior setter Jessica Karcz (Westminster, Md./Westminster) had 26 assists and 12 digs.
Junior libero Imani Major (Gainesville, Va./Millbrook) and sophomore libero Milleysha Molina-Otero (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) each had 12 digs, while freshman middle blocker Georgia Ohmke (Falls Church, Va./Justice) had four blocks. Major also added four aces.
Alyson Hughes had 12 kills and Lauren Wilke added 22 assists and 14 digs.
Lindblad had 19 kills and Hill added 13 in the win over Southern New Hampshire. Major added 18 digs, while freshman outside hitter Alex Farnsworth (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty) contributed 14. Ohmke posted six blocks (one solo).
Irem Bat had 14 kills and 11 digs to lead Southern New Hampshire.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they face Saint Anselm at 2:30 p.m.
