INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Shepherd University (5-2) split a pair of matches in volleyball action at the PSAC-MEC Crossover on Saturday at West Virginia State. The Rams posted a 25-21, 21-25, 25-15, 25-20 victory over Kutztown (3-3) in an early match and dropped a 25-23, 23-25, 25-19, 25-15 decision to Shippensburg (6-2) in a later contest.
Junior outside hitter Peyton Lindblad (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) had 14 kills, freshman outside hitter Alex Farnsworth (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty) had 13, while junior outside hitter Cambriea Hill (Columbia, Md./Hammond) added 11 against Kutztown.
Junior libero Imani Major (Gainesville, Va./Millbrook) topped the Rams with 21 digs. Senior setter Becca Kern (Martinsburg, W.Va./Musselman) had 48 assists and 11 digs.
Holly Owen had 18 kills to pace the Golden Bears.
Lindblad and Hill each had 15 kills against Shippensburg. Hill also had three aces and 14 digs.
Kern contributed 36 assists and 13 digs, while Major added a match-high 31 digs.
Morgan DeFloria had 16 kills and 20 digs to pace Shippensburg.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Virginia State for a 6 p.m. match.
