WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – Waleed Cherif scored a pair of goals to lift West Liberty (1-3-0, 1-2-0 MEC) to a 4-0 win over Shepherd University (0-5-0, 0-3-0 MEC) in MEC men's soccer action at West Liberty on Wednesday.
Cherif scored an unassisted goal at the 21:06 mark and added another on a feed from Alan Fischman minutes later to give the Hilltoppers a 2-0 lead.
Kaleb Crede scored at the 44:06 mark to give West Liberty a 3-0 advantage at the half.
Owen Rozanc tallied an unassisted goal in the game's final minute to complete the scoring.
Freshman goalkeeper Jose Machado Orrellana (Falls Church, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) recorded 14 saves for the Rams. Noah Underwood (0) and Florian Dupuis (2) teamed for a pair of saves for the Hilltoppers.
West Liberty had a 37-5 advantage in shots, while corner kicks were even at 5-all.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Urbana for a 1 p.m. contest.
