CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Five different players scored goals to lead seventh-ranked University of Charleston (7-0-1, 6-0-0 MEC) to a 5-0 win over Shepherd University (0-7-0, 0-5-0 MEC) in MEC men's soccer action at Charleston on Thursday.
Kay Maletzki scored on a pass from Leon Kroiss at the 5:23 mark and Armando Tikvic scored on a feed from David Achaerandio at the 6:54 mark to give Charleston a 2-0 lead at the break.
The Golden Eagles added second-half goals from Freddy Tracey, Alexandre Guichard, and Williams N'Dah.
Freshman goalkeeper Jose Machado Orrellana (Falls Church, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) recorded eight saves for the Rams. Alvaro Unanua Dean did not record a save in goal for the Golden Eagles.
Charleston had a 20-0 advantage in shots and a 9-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they host 13th-ranked Notre Dame for a 1 p.m. match.
