FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Shepherd University (11-5, 1-2 MEC) recorded a 25-18, 20-25, 25-22, 25-20 victory over Fairmont State (4-10, 0-3 MEC) in MEC volleyball action at Fairmont State on Tuesday night.
Junior outside hitter Cambriea Hill (Columbia, Md./Hammond) recorded 19 kills and 16 digs, while junior outside hitter Peyton Lindblad (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) added 18 kills and three aces to lead the Rams. Sophomore middle hitter Nicole Murray (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) recorded a match-high eight blocks.
Senior setter Becca Kern (Martinsburg, W.Va./Musselman) contributed 49 assists, while junior libero Imani Major (Gainesville, Va./Millbrook) had a match-high 20 digs. Freshman outside hitter Alex Farnsworth (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty) chipped in with 15 digs.
Rebecca Feeney had 11 kills and Julie DiPaola added 10 to pace the Fighting Falcons. Megan Clerico and DiPaola each added 13 digs.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Notre Dame for Youth Night at 7 p.m. Youth grades eight and lower will be admitted free. Additionally, Shepherd will hand out free schedule posters at the post-match autograph session.
