SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia Wesleyan (2-5-2, 1-5-0 MEC) scored four second half goals en route to a 5-0 win over Shepherd University (0-9-0, 0-7-0 MEC) in MEC men's soccer action at Shepherd on Thursday afternoon.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead into the intermission as Liam Igoe scored on a pass from Matthew Bentley at the 14:14 mark.
Zach Whiting scored a pair of goals, while Kazuma Takagi and Tanner Amos added single tallies for the Bobcats in the second half.
Freshmen goalkeepers Jose Machado Orrellana (Falls Church, Va./J.E.B. Stuart) (9) and Michael Lemay (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg) (1) combined for 10 saves for the Rams. Alex Rittenhouse had three saves for the Bobcats.
West Virginia Wesleyan had a 29-3 advantage in shots and an 11-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they host Pitt-Johnstown for a 1 p.m. match.
