Shepherd Women’s Soccer Blanks Glenville State

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Junior defender Elishia Davis (Charleston, W.Va./Geoarge Washington) scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Shepherd University (3-6-0, 2-3-0 MEC) to a 4-0 win over Glenville State (0-10-0, 0-6-0 MEC) in MEC women's soccer action at Glenville State on Sunday afternoon.

The Rams took a 1-0 lead at the 10:09 mark when freshman forward Darien Ball (Charleston, W. Va./George Washington) scored on an assist from Davis.

Freshman forward Alyssa Lester (Bluefield, W.Va./Bluefield) scored on a feed from junior forward/midfielder Brogan Pifer (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) at the 16:05 mark to give Shepherd a 2-0 advantage.

Davis found the back of the net on an assist from sophomore defender Katherine Eddy (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) at the 19:32 mark to up the lead to 3-0.

Shepherd completed the scoring when freshman defender/midfielder Braden Pickett (Morgantown, W.Va./University) scored on a feed from sophomore defender Olivia Dominiski (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) at the 23:25 mark.

Freshmen goalkeepers Meghan Byers (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) (2 saves) and Caylin Clingan (Myersville, Md./Middletown) (0) combined for a shutout effort for the Rams. Morgan Smailes (11) and Alyssa Banks (2) teamed for 13 saves in goal for the Pioneers.

Shepherd had a 30-4 advantage in shots and a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Concord for a 1 p.m. match.
