LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Kwanza Murray scored a game-high 26 points to lead Lincoln University (7-8) to a 76-51 win over Shepherd (5-7) in women's basketball action at Lincoln on Saturday afternoon.
Murray connected on 10-of-16 field goals with a 5-of-7 performance from beyond the arc. She was 1-of-2 from the foul line.
Sophomore forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) and senior guard Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West York Area) each scored 10 points to pace the Rams. Clayton also grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.
Junior guard Lauren Reed (Winchester, Va./Millbrook) added nine points, senior guard Kayla Tibbs (Leesburg, Va./Heritage/Glenville State) had eight, while freshman guard Hannah Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) tossed in seven.
DeAshia Young added 14 points and Dominique Allen tossed in 13 for the Lions.
Shepherd shot 26.9 percent (14-52) from the floor with a 27.3 percent effort (3-11) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 58.8 percent (16-23) of their free throws.
Lincoln hit on 46.2 percent (24-52) from the floor with a 35 percent (7-20) performance from beyond the arc. The Lions connected on 55.3 percent (21-38) of their free throws.
Lincoln had a 43-39 edge in rebounds. The Rams forced 22 turnovers and committed 25.
The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Concord for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
