Shepherd Women’s Soccer Falls to #7 Bloomsburg

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Nicole Varano scored a pair of goals to lead seventh-ranked Bloomsburg (13-1-0, 11-1-0 PSAC East) to a 5-0 win over Shepherd University (0-12-2, 0-11-1 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday afternoon.

The Huskies took a 3-0 lead into the break behind goals from Varano, Abby Groff, and Bryce Watts.

Bloomsburg added second-half tallies from Varano and Lauren Hoelke.

Sophomore goalkeepers Lulu Fricks (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) (3 GA, 4 saves) and Meghan Byers (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) (2 GA, 2 saves) combined to post six saves for the Rams. Jenna Hawkins recorded a save for the Huskies.

Bloomsburg had a 24-1 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in corner kicks.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Mansfield for a 3 p.m. match.
