MANSFIELD, Pa. – Sophomore defender Mikayla Azar (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) scored off a pass from freshman forward/midfielder Sara Hohn (Frederick, Md./Thomas Johnson) at the 58:29 mark to lead Shepherd University (1-12-2, 1-11-1 PSAC East) to a 1-0 win over Mansfield (1-13-0, 1-11-0 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Mansfield on Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore goalkeepers Serafina Maerten (Martinsburg, W.Va./Spring Mills) (2 saves, 45:00) and Meghan Byers (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) (1 save, 45:00) combined to post three saves in a shutout effort for the Rams. Stephanie Moir recorded nine saves for the Mounties.
Shepherd had a 21-9 advantage in shots and a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Lock Haven for a 3:30 p.m. match.
