SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Shepherd University volleyball team (15-0, 3-0 PSAC) handed California (Pa.) (7-4, 2-1 PSAC) a 3-1 setback (20-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-18) in PSAC volleyball action in the home opener for the Rams at the Butcher Center on Friday night. The Rams extended their winning streak to 15 matches.
Senior outside hitter Cambriea Hill (Columbia, Md./Hammond) and senior outside hitter Peyton Lindblad (Spotsylvania, Va./Riverbend) each had 15 kills to pace the Rams. Hill also added 13 digs.
Junior setter Jessica Karcz (Westminster, Md./Westminster) contributed 42 assists and 11 digs, while junior middle hitter Nicole Murray (Hagerstown, Md./North Hagerstown) topped the team with seven blocks (five solo).  Junior libero Milleysha Molina-Otero (Fairfax, Va./Chantilly) had  a match-high 20 digs and freshman outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy)  added on 16.
Kaylin Burkey had 10 kills and 15 digs to pace the Vulcans. Sarah Benson added 25 assists, three aces, and 18 digs.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Seton Hill at 1 p.m. for Senior Citizen Day. Senior citizens ages 65 and older will be admitted free.
