SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Jamie Boyar scored on an assist from Grace Stranahan at the 80:04 mark to lift Daemen (7-1-2) to a 2-1 win over Shepherd University (0-8-2) in women's soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday afternoon.
Daemen took a 1-0 lead when Stranahan scored on a free kick at the 60:38 mark.
Shepherd tied the game at the 74:55 mark when sophomore defender Mikayla Azar (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) scored off a pass from freshman defender Sydney Cauffman (Millerstown, Pa./Greenwood).
Sophomore goalkeepers Lulu Fricks (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) (0 saves, 0 GA, 15:22), Serafina Maerten (Martinsburg, W.Va./Spring Mills) (5 saves, 2 GA, 41:08), and Meghan Byers (Clear Spring, Md./Clear Spring) (4 saves, 0 GA, 33:30) combined for nine saves for the Rams. Tori DeLappi recorded three saves for the Wildcats.
Daemen had a 16-10 advantage in shots and a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host East Stroudsburg at 1 p.m.
