SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior guard
Thomas Lang (New Market, Md./Linganore) scored a game-high 22 points to lead Shepherd University (3-1) to a 77-66 win over Frostburg State (1-3) in men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
Lang hit on 8-of-17 field goals with a 6-of-14 effort from three-point range. Lang added a team-high six rebounds and four assists.
Junior forward
Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) and junior guard
Jarrell Jones (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg/Alderson Broaddus) each added 11 points, while sophomore guard
Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) had nine points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
Bo Schene scored 22 points to lead the Bobcats. Daniel Alexander added 17 points, while Leondre Rogers had 15.
Frostburg State had a 42-37 lead at the break behind 15 first-half points from Schene.
Shepherd connected on 42.4 percent (25-59) from the floor with a 40.9 percent (9-22) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 83.8 percent (7-13) of their free throws.
Frostburg State shot 38.6 percent (27-70) from the floor with a 36.4 percent effort (16-44) from three-point range. The Bobcats shot 87.5 percent (7-8) from the charity stripe.
Shepherd had a 42-38 edge on the boards. The Rams forced eight turnovers and committed six.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Edinboro for a 3 p.m. game.
