EDINBORO, Pa. – Freshman guard Abby Beeman (Ridgely, W.Va./Frankfort) scored a game-high 36 points to lead Shepherd (6-0, 1-0) to an 83-71 win over Edinboro (1-2, 0-1) in PSAC women's basketball action at Edinboro.
Beeman hit on 15-of-22 field goals with a 5-of-7 effort from three-point range. She was 1-of-2 from the foul line. She added a game-high seven assists and a team-high six rebounds.
Junior guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) added 21 points, while junior forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) tossed in 16.
Michaela Barnes scored 18 points and Bridgette Shaffer added 16 to lead Edinboro. Cheniya Sharpe added seven points and a game-high 18 rebounds
Shepherd had a 41-32 lead at the break as Beeman tossed in 19 first half points.
Shepherd shot 56.4 percent (31-55) from the floor with a 58.8 percent effort (10-17) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 61.1 percent (11-18) of their free throws.
Edinboro hit on 37.7 percent (23-61) from the floor with a 40 percent effort (8-20) from beyond the arc for the game. The Fighting Scots connected on 77.3 percent (17-22) of their free throws.
Edinboro had a 42-26 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced 22 turnovers and committed 17.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Mercyhurst for a 1 p.m. contest
