SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior guard Thomas Lang (New Market, Md./Linganore) scored a game-high 35 points to lead Shepherd University (5-4) to a 101-50 win over Wilson College (2-9) in men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Sunday. Lang drained 11 three-pointers to set a new Shepherd single-game mark.
Lang connected on 12-of-17 field goals with an 11-of-14 effort from beyond the arc. He added six rebounds, five steals, and a pair of assists.
Sophomore guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) and junior guard Jarrell Jones (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg/Alderson Broaddus) each added 17 points. Preston added eight assists and seven boards, while Jones also grabbed seven rebounds.
Junior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) and sophomore forward Noah Wimbish (Fairdale, W.Va./Massanutten Military Academy) each added eight points.
Anthony Desruisseau tossed in a team-high 11 points to lead Wilson. Olamide Banjo and Jeremiah Delanye each had eight points for the Phoenix.
Shepherd had a 58-20 lead at halftime as Lang had 32 first-half points.
Shepherd connected on 54.3 percent (38-70) from the floor with a 50 percent (24-28) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 100 percent (1-1) of their free throws.
Wilson shot 29.3 percent (17-58) from the floor with a 23.1 percent effort (6-26) from three-point range. The Phoenix shot 90.9 percent (10-11) from the charity stripe.
Shepherd had a 39-35 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced 16 turnovers and committed seven.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Indiana (Pa.) for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
