SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Armoni Foster scored a game-high 22 points to lead third-ranked Indiana (Pa.) (9-0, 4-0) to a 76-62 win over Shepherd University (5-5, 1-3) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Friday night.
Junior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) led the Rams with 12 points. Freshman guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) added a career-high 11 points, while freshman guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) also added 11. Senior guard Thomas Lang (New Market, Md./Linganore) tossed in 10. McClain-Corley also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Ethan Porterfield added 19 points for the Crimson Hawks. Malik Miller contributed 18 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists.
Shepherd had a 36-34 lead at halftime behind 10 first-half points from Lang.
The game featured 12 ties and nine lead changes. IUP took the lead for good at 59-58 on a jumper by Foster with 4:06 to play. The Crimson Hawks ended the game on a 17-4 run to seal the win.
Shepherd connected on 37.7 percent (23-61) from the floor with a 25.9 percent (7-27) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 69.2 percent (9-13) of their free throws.
IUP shot 48.6 percent (17-58) from the floor with a 28 percent effort (7-25) from three-point range. The Crimson Hawks shot 71.4 percent (15-21) from the charity stripe.
IUP had a 40-35 rebounding advantage. The Rams forced 11 turnovers and committed 11.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Seton Hill for a 6 p.m. contest.
