SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Seton Hill (9-1, 4-1) used a balanced attack en route to a 102-85 win over Shepherd (8-3, 2-3) in PSAC women's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
Junior forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) scored a game and season-high 34 points to pace the Rams. Clayton connected on 15-of-22 field goals with a 1-of-1 effort from three-point range. She was 3-of-4 from the foul line.
Junior guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) added 15 points, five assists, and four steals, while freshman guard Abby Beeman (Ridgely, W.Va./Frankfort) had 11 points and a game-high seven assists.
Sophomore guard Madi White (Hamilton, Va./Woodgrove) tossed in 10 points and graduate student forward Anna Ross (Cleveland, Ohio/Shaker Heights/WV State) nearly achieved a double-double with nine points and 10 boards.
Katie Nolan led Seton Hill with 19 points and eight boards. Courtney Cecere added 16 points, Samantha Kosmacki had 15, while Cheyenne Trest tossed in 14.
Shepherd shot 50.7 percent (34-67) from the floor with a 38.5 percent effort (5-13) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 80 percent (12-15) of their free throws.
Seton Hill hit on 50 percent (36-72) from the floor with a 39.3 percent effort (11-28) from three-point range for the game. The Griffins connected on 86.4 percent (19-22) of their free throws.
Seton Hill had a 39-32 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced 15 turnovers and committed 20.
The Rams return to action on Jan. 3 when they travel to West Chester for a 5:30 p.m. contest.
