CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Raziyah Farrington scored a game-high 26 points to lead Charleston (6-19, 5-14 MEC) to a 91-51 win over Shepherd (11-15, 8-12 MEC) in MEC women's basketball action at Charleston on Saturday.
Farrington connected on 12-of-17 field goals with a 2-of-2 effort from the foul line.
Senior guard Kayla Tibbs (Leesburg, Va./Heritage/Glenville State) led the Rams with 15 points. She connected on 6-of-12 field goals with a 3-of-4 performance from three-point range.
Junior guard Lauren Reed (Winchester, Va./Millbrook) added 11 points behind a 3-of-6 effort from beyond the arc. Senior forward Liz Moormann (New Market, Md./Oakdale) added five points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds.
Dionna Sanders added 17 points and eight boards for the Golden Eagles. Anna Hayton added 12 points, while Gracie Roberts contributed 11 points and eight assists.
Charleston took a 28-12 lead in the first quarter and never trailed in the contest. The Golden Eagles had a 51-28 advantage at halftime.
Shepherd shot 28.8 percent (17-59) from the floor with a 53.8 percent effort (7-13) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 66.7 percent (10-15) of their free throws.
Charleston hit on 57.6 percent (38-66) from the floor with a 40 percent (8-20) performance from beyond the arc. The Golden Eagles connected on 87.5 percent (7-8) of their free throws.
Charleston had a 41-32 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced 12 turnovers and committed 19.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Glenville State at 5:30 p.m. for Senior Night.
