SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio – Seina Adachi scored a game-high 23 points to lead Notre Dame College (12-9, 9-6 MEC) to a 77-60 win over Shepherd (11-10, 8-7 MEC) in MEC women's basketball action at Notre Dame on Thursday night.
Adachi connected on 7-of-14 field goals with a 3-of-7 performance from beyond the arc. She was 6-of-6 from the foul line.
Sophomore forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) led the Rams with 18 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Kayla Tibbs (Leesburg, Va./Heritage/Glenville State) added 16 points, while senior guard Kari Lankford (York, Pa./West York Area) contributed 11 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds.
Katie Karalic and Jada Malone each added 11 points for the Falcons.
Notre Dame had a 36-33 lead at the break.
Shepherd rallied in the third quarter and took its last lead of the game at 42-40 lead after a jumper by Clayton with 7:24 left. Notre Dame retook the lead on a three-pointer by Abi Oriti seconds later and never relinquished the lead.
Shepherd shot 42.9 percent (21-49) from the floor with a 30.8 percent effort (4-13) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 70 percent (14-20) of their free throws.
Notre Dame hit on 38.3 percent (23-60) from the floor with a 33.3 percent (7-21) performance from beyond the arc. The Falcons connected on 75 percent (24-32) of their free throws.
Shepherd had a 37-36 edge in rebounding. The Rams forced 17 turnovers and committed 11.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Urbana for a 2 p.m. game.
