WISE, Va. -- McKayla Graham had four goals and an assist to lead UVa-Wise (5-5, 3-0 MEC) to a 15-10 win over Shepherd (5-5, 2-2 MEC) in MEC women's lacrosse action at UVa-Wise on Sunday.
Junior midfielder Mallory Davila (Hollywood, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) had four goals, while junior attacker/midfielder Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) added two goals and four assists to lead the Rams.
Sophomore attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) recorded a pair of goals. Freshman defender/midfielder Paige Alexander (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) and freshman midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century) each netted a goal. Junior attacker Emily Brown (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) and freshman defender Juliana Barco (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) each contributed an assist.
Junior defender Lyric Feingold-Conaway (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) led the Shepherd defense with game highs of nine ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
Ashley Wells had three goals and two assists, while Kristin Gobbi had three goals and an assist for the Highland Cavaliers.
UVa-Wise had an 8-4 advantage at the break.
UVa-Wise held a 41-23 advantage in shots, while draw controls were even at 13 apiece. Wise held a 33-31 edge in ground balls. Shepherd was 18-of-31 in clears, while Wise was 22-of-27.
Freshman goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) had 16 saves for the Rams. Elsa Girado had nine saves for the Highland Cavaliers.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to West Virginia Wesleyan. First draw is slated for 1 p.m.
