BUCKHANNON, W.Va. -- Junior attacker/midfielder Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) had six goals and three assists and sophomore attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) added five goals and three assists to lead Shepherd (6-5, 3-2 MEC) to a 17-3 win over West Virginia Wesleyan (5-7, 0-5 MEC) in MEC women's lacrosse action at West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday.
Sophomore attacker Regan Brown (Reisterstown, Md./Manchester Valley) had two goals and a pair of assist, while junior midfielder Mallory Davila (Hollywood, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) had two goals and an assist. Freshman midfielder Maddison Young (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) contributed a goal and an assist and freshman midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century) netted a goal.
Madison DuVall had a goal and an assist for the Bobcats. Samantha Pappas and Madeline Gorzka each added single tallies.
Shepherd had a 12-1 advantage at the break as Funke and Kelly each had four first-half goals.
Shepherd had a 33-13 advantage in shots, while draw controls were even at 10 apiece. The Rams held a 23-9 edge in ground balls. Shepherd was 20-of-23 in clears, while West Virginia Wesleyan was 16-of-22.
Freshman goalkeepers Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) (5 saves) and Jordan Hardesty (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) (3) combined for eight saves for the Rams. Gabrielle Cleaveland (11) and Samantha Mise (3) teamed up to post 14 saves for the Bobcats.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Wheeling Jesuit for a 5 p.m. contest.
