SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio -- Junior attacker/midfielder Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) scored eight goals to lead Shepherd (8-5, 5-2 MEC) to an 18-11 win over Notre Dame (7-8, 3-4 MEC) in MEC women's lacrosse action at Notre Dame on Sunday.
Funke also recorded a game-high 11 draw controls.
Junior midfielder Mallory Davila (Hollywood, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) scored four goals, while sophomore attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) contributed two goals and a game-high eight assists. Sophomore attacker Regan Brown (Reisterstown, Md./Manchester Valley) had two goals and an assist.
Freshman defender Juliana Barco (Bel Air, Md./Patterson Mill) and freshman midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century) each netted a goal. Junior attacker Megan Dusci Walkersville, Md./Walkersville/Frederick CC) contributed an assist.
Dnayele Hardy had three goals and two assists, while Selena Carter added three goals and an assist for the Falcons. Taylor Henderson posted two goals and an assist.
Shepherd had an 8-3 lead at halftime behind four first-half goals from Funke.
Notre Dame had a 35-34 edge in shots, while Shepherd had a 18-12 advantage in draw controls. The Falcons held a 21-17 edge in ground balls. Shepherd and Notre Dame were both 17-of-22 in clears.
Freshman goalkeepers Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) (7) and Jordan Hardesty (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) (3) teamed for 10 saves for the Rams. Ellejanna Cicione posted eight saves for the Falcons.
The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host Charleston for a 3 p.m. match.
