SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Sophomore attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) had three goals and an assist while freshman midfielder Katherine Campbell (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) added a career-high three goals to lead Shepherd (9-5, 6-2 MEC) to a 13-9 win over Charleston (3-10, 1-6 MEC) in MEC women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Thursday.
Junior midfielder Mallory Davila (Hollywood, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) and freshman defender/midfielder Paige Alexander (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) each added two goals and an assist. Alexander also tied Charleston's Samantha Youngman with a game-high five draw controls.
Junior attacker/midfielder Lillian Funke (Hagerstown, Md./Boonsboro) had a pair of goals, while freshman midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century) netted a goal. Sophomore attacker Regan Brown (Reisterstown, Md./Manchester Valley) contributed a game-high three assists.
Brianna Rock had three goals, while Emma Renda added two for the Golden Eagles.
Shepherd had an 8-2 lead at halftime.
Shepherd had a 39-20 edge in shots, while Charleston had a 14-10 advantage in draw controls. Ground balls were even at 23-all. Shepherd was 23-of-26, while Charleston was 19-of-27 in clears.
Freshman goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded 10 saves for the Rams. Kyra Tye posted 16 saves for the Golden Eagles.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host UVa-Wise at noon for Meet the Rams Day. The team will host a postgame autograph session and the first 100 fans in line will receive a free schedule poster.
