INDIANAPOLIS -- Junior Owen Elliott (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville/Marshall) of the Shepherd University men's golf team has been selected to participate in the 2019 NCAA Men's Golf Atlantic/East Tournament.

Elliott and Fairmont State's Marco Oliverio earned at-large berths as individuals from the Mountain East Conference. The University of Charleston is the top seed from the Atlantic Region, while West Liberty came in at No. 5 and Concord came in at No. 6 to earn three of the 10 spots in the region. 

The teams will compete with the 10 teams from the East Region in Greensburg, Pa. next month in the combined NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional Tournament. Hosted by California (Pa.) University, the 54-hole event is set for May 9-11 at Totteridge Golf Club, a rolling 7,154-yard layout that plays to a par of 72.

The Atlantic/East regional is one of four combined regional tournaments that will be conducted on those dates to determine the field for the 2019 NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. The Mountain East Conference will be hosting this year's national championship tournament at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.Va. The tournament will run from May 20-24.

The top three teams from each combined regional and the top two student-athletes not with one of those teams advance to this year's national championships. The remaining eight team berths will be allocated based on the regions represented in the head-to-head medal play segment of last year's national championships.
