URBANA, Ohio – The Shepherd University men's golf team fired a first-round total of 306 to rank seventh in a 13-team field after first day action of the MEC Spring Classic at the Urbana Country Club in Urbana, Ohio. Davis & Elkins shot a 295 to take the team lead. Ben Knight of Fairmont State and Jack Gibson of Davis & Elkins each carded a 70 to take the first round individual lead.

Junior Owen Elliott (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville/Marshall) shot a 72 to rank in fourth place to pace the Rams. He was followed by senior Drew Call (Charleston, W.Va./George Washington) (76, T-16th), junior Mike Graessle (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll) (78, T-29th),  freshman Mason Kidwell (Charles Town, W.Va./Washington) (80, T-37th), and freshman Brian Sadler (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) (84, T-49th).

The Rams return to action on Monday for final round action.
