Lang Lifts Shepherd Men Past Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa.  – Senior guard Thomas Lang (New Market, Md./Linganore) drained as three-pointer from the corner as time expired to lift Shepherd University (8-9, 4-7) to a 73-72 win over Millersville (8-9, 5-6) in PSAC men's basketball action at Millersville on Saturday afternoon.

Lang led the Rams with 18 points. He hit on 6-of-10 field goals with a 3-of-5 effort from three-point range. He drained 3-of-3 free throws.

Sophomore guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) added 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds while junior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) added 12 points and six boards. Freshman guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) contributed 11 points and a game-high six assists.

Ryan Davis had a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds to lead the Marauders.  Justin Nwosu added 17 points and Khari Williams had 13.

Millersville had a 47-33 lead at the half.

Shepherd rallied to tie the game a 68-68 when Preston hit a three-pointer with 2:15 left in regulation. The Marauders got a layup by Williams with 51 seconds left and a pair of free throws by Williams with 17 seconds left to take a 72-68 advantage. Jordan hit a layup for the Rams with 11 seconds to cut the lead to 72-70 and set the stage for Lang's game-winner.

Shepherd connected on 46.7 percent (28-60) from the floor with a 34.6 percent (9-26) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 88.9 percent (8-9) of their free throws.

Millersville shot 46.9 percent (30-65=4) from the floor with a 27.8 percent effort (5-18) from three-point range. The Marauders shot 58.3 percent (7-12) from the foul line.
 
Shepherd had a 36-34 edge in rebounding. Shepherd forced seven turnovers and committed 13.

The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Mansfield for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
