LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Christian Kelly scored a game-high 24 points to lead Lock Haven (9-10, 5-9) to an 83-66 win over Shepherd University (9-12, 5-10) in PSAC men's basketball action at Lock Haven on Saturday.
Senior guard Thomas Lang (New Market, Md./Linganore) led the Rams with 15 points and four assists.
Sophomore guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) added 12 points and six rebounds, while freshman guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) had 11 points and a game-high five steals. Junior guard Jarrell Jones (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg/Alderson Broaddus) was also in double figures with 10 points.
Jesse McPherson added 15 points and Matt Cerruti had 13 for the Bald Eagles. Nasir Campbell tossed in 10 points. Campbell also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Lock Haven opened the game on a 20-8 run and took a 40-29 advantage into the break.
Shepherd rallied to within four points at 50-46 when Lang hit three free throws with 13:42 remaining. Lock Haven responded with a 9-0 run and the Rams were unable to recover.
Shepherd connected on 38.3 percent (23-60) from the floor with a 30.8 percent (8-26) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 70.6 percent (12-17) of their free throws.
Lock Haven shot 53.2 percent (33-62) from the floor with a 45 percent effort (9-20) from three-point range. The Bald Eagles shot 72.7 percent (8-11) from the foul line.
Lock Haven had a 41-32 advantage on the boards. Shepherd forced 11 turnovers and committed 11.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Bloomsburg for a 3 p.m. contest
