Shepherd Women Down Lock Haven for Fifth Straight Win

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.  – Junior guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) scored a game-high 18 points to lead Shepherd (16-5, 10-5) to a 72-56 win over Lock Haven (10-10, 6-8) in PSAC women's basketball action at Lock Haven on Saturday. The Rams ran their win streak to five games.

McLaughlin connected on 7-of-14 field goals and was 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. She hit 2-of-4 free throws. McLaughlin added six rebounds and six assists.

Graduate student forward Anna Ross (Cleveland, Ohio/Shaker Heights/WV State) added a career-high 16 points, while freshman guard Abby Beeman (Ridgely, W.Va./Frankfort) added 14 points and a game-high eight assists. Junior forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) was also in double figures with 10 points.

Freshman guard Jordan Smith (Manassas, Va./Colgan) tossed in eight points, while sophomore guard Hannah Myers (York, Pa./Eastern York) had six points and a game-high five steals.

Rileigh Devine scored 12 points to pace the Bald Eagles.  Bink Redman and Ahnera Parker each added had 11 points. Parker also grabbed  a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Rams had a 34-32 lead at halftime.

Shepherd outscored Lock Haven, 18-8, in the third quarter to take control of the contest.

Shepherd shot 46.6 percent (27-58) from the floor with a 35 percent effort (7-20) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 61.1 percent (11-18) of their free throws.

Lock Haven connected on 30.4 percent (17-56) from the floor with a 15.8 percent effort (3-19) from three-point range for the game. The Bald Eagles connected on 73.1percent (19-26) of their free throws.

Lock Haven had a 42-35 advantage in rebounding. The Rams forced 18 turnovers and committed 16.

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Bloomsburg for a 1 p.m. game.
