EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Mike Millsip scored a game-high 16 points to lead East Stroudsburg (17-8, 13-7) to an 89-72 win over Shepherd University (13-13, 9-11) in PSAC men's basketball action at East Stroudsburg on Saturday.
Freshman guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) tied Millsip for game-high scoring honors with 16 points. He was 4-of-9 from the floor with a 1-of-5 effort from three-point range. He was 7-of-8 from the foul line. He added a game-high five assists.
Junior guard Jarrell Jones (Martinsburg, W.Va./Martinsburg/Alderson Broaddus) added 13 points, senior guard Thomas Lang (New Market, Md./Linganore) tossed in 12, while sophomore guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) added 11 points and nine rebounds.
Justin Paz and Zach Sabol each added 12 points for East Stroudsburg. Sabol also grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
East Stroudsburg had a 50-24 lead at the break.
Shepherd connected on 40.7 percent (22-54) from the floor with a 31.3 percent (10-32) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 64.3 percent (18-28) of their free throws.
East Stroudsburg shot 58.6 percent (34-58) from the floor with a 36.8 percent effort (7-19) from three-point range. The Warriors shot 58.3 percent (14-24) from the foul line.
East Stroudsburg had a 34-31 edge on the boards. Shepherd forced seven turnovers and committed 13.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Shippensburg for an 8 p.m. contest.
