SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg (21-6, 17-4) recorded a 66-59 win over Shepherd University (13-14, 9-12) in PSAC men's basketball action at Shippensburg on Wednesday night.
Sophomore guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Rams. Preston was 6-of-12 from the floor with a 2-of-4 effort from beyond the arc. He drained 7-of-8 free throws. Preston recorded his third double-double of the season.
Junior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) added 18 points and six boards.
Luke Nedrow led Shippensburg with 16 points. Jake Biss added 12 points while Lamar Talley tossed in 11. John Castello added seven points and a team-high eight rebounds
Shippensburg had a 34-28 lead at halftime.
Shepherd cut the lead to two points at 41-39 after a Preston jumper with 13:46 left in the game but would get no closer.
Shepherd connected on 33.3 percent (20-60) from the floor with a 21.1 percent (4-19) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 83.3 percent (15-18) of their free throws.
Shippensburg shot 35.9 percent (23-64) from the floor with a 33.3 percent effort (8-24) from three-point range. The Raiders shot 80 percent (12-15) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 43-42 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced eight turnovers and committed 11.
The Rams wrap up regular-season action on Saturday when they host Mansfield at 3 p.m. for Senior Day.
