EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa.  – Shepherd (19-7, 13-7) dropped a 65-58 decision to East Stroudsburg (18-8,14-6 ) in PSAC women's basketball action at East Stroudsburg on Saturday.
Freshman guard Abby Beeman (Ridgely, W.Va./Frankfort)   scored a game-high 22 points to pace the Rams. Beeman connected on 7-of-18 shots with a 3-of-9 effort from beyond the arc. She was 5-of-7 from the foul line. Beeman added a game-high seven assists and four steals.
Junior forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) had 21 points, six rebounds, and six blocked shots. Graduate student forward Anna Ross (Cleveland, Ohio/Shaker Heights/WV State) added seven points, four blocks, and a team-high eight rebounds.
Tifffany Lapotsky had 16 points and Jordan Hertz added 15 to lead East Stroudsburg. Julia Kutz had 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Kaitlyn Swint added 10 points and 13 boards.
Shepherd shot 40 percent (20-50) from the floor with a 25 percent effort (4-16) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 70 percent (14-20) of their free throws.
East Stroudsburg hit on 37.7 percent (23-61) from the floor with a 23.8 percent effort (5-21) from three-point range for the game. The Warriors connected on 70 percent (14-20) of their free throws.
East Stroudsburg had a 43-27 advantage on the boards. The Rams forced 13 turnovers and committed 14. Each team had nine steals.
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Shippensburg for a 6 p.m. contest.
