Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Downs Wilmington to Improve to 2-0

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) scored five goals and added two assists to lead Shepherd (2-0) to a 15-13 win over Wilmington (Del.) (1-2) in women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Tuesday.

Sophomore midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century) added two goals and two assists, while sophomore defender/midfielder Paige Alexander (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) scored two goals and added an assist. Alexander added five draw controls and five ground balls.

Senior attacker/midfielder Jordan Sauro (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll/Shippensburg), senior attacker Megan Dusci (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville/Frederick CC),  junior attacker Regan Brown (Reisterstown, Md./Manchester Valley), and sophomore attacker Haleigh Piccolo (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) each had a goal and an assist.

Sophomore midfielder Katherine Campbell (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill)  and freshman midfielder Molly McCook (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) each added a goal.

Brooke Seibert had five goals and an assist to lead the Wildcats.  Maggie Day added three goals, while Delaney Steele had two goals and a game-high six assists.

Shepherd had an 8-7 lead at halftime behind four first-half goals from Kelly.

Wilmington had a 32-25 edge in shots while Shepherd had a 33-30 advantage in ground balls. Wilmington had an 18-13 edge in draw controls. Shepherd was 18-of-25 in clears, while Wilmington was 22-of-25.

Sophomore goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded 15 saves for the Rams. Tori Grubowski posted 12 saves for the Wildcats.

The Rams return to action on March 4 when they travel to Frostburg State for a 5 p.m. contest.
