LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Shepherd University (17-1, 6-0 PSAC East) recorded a four-set win over Lock Haven (2-14, 0-6 PSAC East) in PSAC East volleyball action at Lock Haven on Friday night. The Rams posted a 22-25, 25-16, 26-24, 25-23 victory. Shepherd upped its win streak to 16 matches.
Sophomore outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) had 20 kills, 13 digs, and three aces to lead the Rams. Junior outside hitter Kitanna Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) had eight kills and four blocks, while junior middle blocker Elyssia Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) added eight kills and five blocks.
Sophomore setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) recorded 40 assists and seven digs, while redshirt-freshman defensive specialist/libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded a match-high 27 digs.
Grace Hugar had 13 kills and 18 digs to pace the Bald Eagles. Gabriela Fiavola added 12 kills and 18 digs.
The Rams rallied from a set point in the third set to post a 26-24 win en route to the victory. Trailing 24-23, the Rams got back-to-back blocks from Rakestraw and Smith and Nicholes and Smith to take a 25-24 lead. Nicholes followed with a kill to end the set.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Bloomsburg for an 11 a.m. match.
