KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Shepherd University (14-1, 3-0 PSAC East) handed Kutztown (5-9, 1-2 PSAC East) a 3-0 setback in PSAC East volleyball action at Kutztown on Saturday. The Rams recorded a 25-9, 25-20, 25-23 victory. Shepherd upped its win streak to 13 matches.
Junior outside hitter Kiara Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) had 11 kills and 12 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) recorded eight kills, nine digs, and three aces.
Junior middle blocker Elyssia Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) added five blocks and eight kills. Sophomore setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) contributed 45 assists and redshirt-freshman defensive specialist/libero Claire Ellis (Louisa, Va./Saint Catherine's School) recorded a team-high 16 digs.
Sophia Basler had 11 kills and four aces to lead Kutztown.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they host West Chester at 7 p.m.
