KUTZTOWN, Pa. – Kayla Argen scored a pair of goals to help lead fourth-ranked Kutztown (9-0-0, 7-0-0 PSAC East) to a 5-0 win over Shepherd University (1-5-1, 0-5-1 PSAC East) in PSAC East women's soccer action at Kutztown on Monday night.
Both of Argen's goals came in the first half. Brittany Arentz and Sadie Goad also found the back of the net as the Golden Bears had a 4-0 lead at the break
Kutztown got a second half goal from Kylie Sourbeck to complete the scoring.
Senior Lulu Fricks (Alexandria, Va./Hayfield) (79:00 minutes, 5 GA, 13 shots faced) had five saves in goal for the Rams. Freshman Abbi Lewis (Hagerstown, Md./Washington County Technical ) worked the last 11 minutes and faced a pair of shots. Cassandra Baker (45:00, 1 save, 2 shots faced) and Emme Wolfel (45:00, 1 save, 2 shots faced) combined for a pair of saves for the Golden Bears.
Kutztown had a 15-4 advantage in shots with a 10-2 edge in shots on goal. The Golden Bears had a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they face East Stroudsburg for a 3:30 p.m. game.
