SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.  – Sophomore guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) poured in a game and career-high 25 points and added six assists to lead Shepherd University (1-1) to an 88-81 overtime win over Bowie State (0-2) in men's basketball action in the Dave Russell Conference Challenge at the Butcher Center on Saturday. 
McClain-Corley connected on 8-of-18 field goals with a 4-of-9 effort from three-point range. He connected on 5-of-6 free throws. 
Senior guard Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) had 22 points and five assists, while junior guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) had 14 points and a team-high nine rebounds. Senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) contributed 13 points and six boards. 
Quinton Drayton had 22 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Ayan Teel added 21 points and a game-high nine assists. 
Teel hit a layup with one second remaining in regulations to force overtime. 
Shepherd outscored Bowie State, 17-10, in the extra session. Stephens had seven points lead the Rams in OT. 
Shepherd connected on 47.5 percent (28-59) from the floor with a 50 percent (12-24) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 76.9 percent (20-26) of their free throws. 
Bowie State shot 47.7 percent (31-65) from the floor with a 33.3 percent effort (11-33) from three-point range. The Bulldogs shot 88.9 percent (8-9) from the foul line. 
Bowie State had a 36-33 edge in rebounding. Shepherd forced 12 turnovers and committed seven. The Rams had 11 steals while Bowie State had four. 
The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Frostburg State for a 7 p.m.
