SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University (19-3, 8-2 PSAC East) defeated Kutztown (7-16, 2-8 PSAC East) in four sets in PSAC East volleyball action at the Butcher Center on Tuesday night. The Rams posted a 25-16, 25-22, 25-27, 25-17 victory.
Sophomore outside hitter Mikaylah Hoy (Sharpsburg, Md./Heritage Academy) had 20 kills, 19 digs, and three aces to pace the Rams. Junior outside hitter Kiara Rakestraw (Uhrichsville, Ohio/Indian Valley) and junior middle blocker Elyssia Smith (Fredericksburg, Va./Colonial Forge) each added 10 kills. Rakestraw also had 20 digs.
Sophomore setter Victoria Nicholes (North Huntington, Pa./Norwin) recorded 41 assists and seven digs. Senior middle hitter Georgia Ohmke (Falls Church, Va./Justice) had a match-high five blocks and freshman defensive specialist/libero Harli Zeitz (Lake Worth, Fla./Somerset Academy Canyons) added a match-high 28 digs.
Sophia Basler had 15 kills and Lauren Jackson added 10 for the Golden Bears. Lexi Morrow contributed 34 assists and 18 digs.
The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Lock Haven at 7 p.m.
