LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Junior guard Abby Beeman (Ridgely, W.Va./Frankfort) had 23 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists to lead Shepherd University (4-0) to a 65-47 win over Lincoln University (0-2) in women's basketball action at Lincoln on Saturday.
Beeman hit on 9-of-14 field goals with a 5-of-7 effort from three-point range.
Graduate student forward Sydney Clayton (Frederick, Md./St. John's) added 21 points and nine rebounds. Senior guard Marley McLaughlin (Haymarket, Va./Battlefield) tossed in 17 points.
Bryanna Brown led the Lions with 16 points. Kryshell Gordy added 10 points and 10 rebounds
Shepherd shot 48.1 percent (25-52) from the floor with a 55.6 percent effort (5-9) from three-point range for the game. The Rams connected on 90.9 percent (10-11) of their free throws.
Lincoln hit on 26.4 percent (19-72) from the floor with a 21.7 percent effort (5-23) from three-point range for the game. The Lions connected on 50 percent (4-8) of their free throws.
Lincoln had a 50-31 edge in rebounding. The Rams had 17 turnovers and forced 22. Shepherd had six steals and Lincoln recorded 10.
The Rams return to action on Monday when they host Virginia Union at 5:30 p.m.
