INDIANA, Pa. – Armani Foster scored a game-high 19 points to lead #6/3 Indiana (Pa.) (9-0, 4-0 PSAC) to a 65-46 win over Shepherd University (5-5, 1-3 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at IUP on Saturday.
Senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Rams. He hit on 7-of-13 field goals and drained 2-of-2 free throws.
Sophomore guard Jordan Gibson (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson/Presbyterian) added nine points and four boards.
Ethan Porterfield added 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Crimson Hawks. Tommy Demogerontas contributed 14 points and eight boards.
IUP had a 32-18 lead at halftime.
Shepherd trailed by only six points at 50-44 after a layup by Daggett with 8:43 left in the game. IUP closed the contest on a 15-2 run to seal the victory.
Shepherd connected on 35.7 percent (20-56) from the floor with a 17.4 percent (4-23) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 100 percent (2-2) of their free throws.
Indiana (Pa.) shot 46.2 percent (24-52) from the floor with a 26.1 percent effort (6-23) from three-point range. The Crimson Hawks shot 78.6 percent (11-14) from the foul line.
IUP had a 42-22 advantage in rebounding. Shepherd forced 14 turnovers and committed 11. The Rams had a 6-5 edge in steals.
The Rams return to action on Sunday when they travel to Seton Hill for a 3 p.m. contest.
