Shepherd Men Fall at Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa.  –  Samuel Tabe scored a game-high 18 points to lead Seton Hill (1-9, 1-4 PSAC) to a 69-59 win over Shepherd University (5-6, 1-4 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Seton Hill on Sunday. 

Senior guard Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) had 16 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists to pace the Rams. 

Senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville), sophomore guard Jordan Gibson (Bristow, Va./Stonewall Jackson/Presbyterian), and sophomore guard Phillip Jordan (Rockville, Md./St. Albans) each added nine points. Daggett grabbed eight boards while Gibson added six. 

Ryan Meis added 13 points and seven rebounds for the Griffins. Miles Monchecourt added 12 points while Sean Dillon tossed in 11. 

Shepherd shot 57.1 percent (16-28) in the first half and held a 36-27 lead at the break. 

Shepherd built a 10-point second-half lead, but Seton Hill used a 15-4 run to take the lead for good at 45-44 after a pair of free throws by Tabe with 9:37 remaining. 

Shepherd connected on 37.3 percent (25-67) from the floor with a 19.4 percent (7-36) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 40 percent (2-5) of their free throws. 

Seton Hill shot 42.1 percent (24-57) from the floor with a 22.7 percent effort (5-22) from three-point range. The Griffins shot 80 percent (16-20) from the foul line. 

Rebounds were even at 40 each. Shepherd forced nine turnovers and committed 11. The Griffins had a 4-2 edge in steals. 

The Rams return to action on Jan. 5 when they travel to Millersville for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
