MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Khari Williams scored a game-high 22 points to lead Millersville (9-3,3-3 PSAC) to a 75-71 win over Shepherd University (5-6, 1-4 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at Millersville on Wednesday night.
Freshman guard Jarod Robinson (Laurel, Md./Glenelg Country School) scored a career-high 16 points to lead the Rams. Freshman guard Aidan Hughley (York, Pa./York Suburban) added a career-high 15 points and tied a career high with six boards.
Junior guard Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) tossed in 12 points, while senior guard Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) added 11 points and tied Millersville's Jaden Faulkner with a game-high six assists. Senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) contributed eight points and tied Ryan Davis of Millersville with a game-high seven rebounds.
James Sullivan added 16 points for the Marauders. Justin Nwosu added 12 points.
Millersville took a 40-35 lead into the break as Williams and Sullivan (11 points each) combined for 22 first-half points.
The Marauders led by as many as 11 points in the second half but Shepherd rallied to within two points at 69-67 after a three-pointer by Robinson with 1:08 remaining. Millersville outscored the Rams, 6-4, down the stretch to clinch the win.
Shepherd connected on 50 percent (26-52) from the floor with a 33.3 percent (7-21) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 80 percent (12-15) of their free throws.
Millersville shot 43.4 percent (23-53) from the floor with a 41.4 percent effort (12-29) from three-point range. The Marauders shot 73.9 percent (17-23) from the foul line.
Shepherd had a 31-30 edge in rebounding. Shepherd forced 11 turnovers and committed 15.
The Rams are slated to return to action on Saturday when they host West Chester for a 3 p.m. contest
