SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Lance-Amir Paul scored a game-high 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Gannon (4-1, 1-0) to a 68-60 win over Shepherd (4-2, 0-1 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Friday night.
Senior forward Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds to pace the Rams. He was 7-of-12 from the floor with a 3-of-4 effort from three-point range. Daggett was 2-of-2 from the foul line.
Freshman forward Carson Poffenberger (Morgantown, W.Va/Morgantown) added 11 points -- fueled by three three-pointers. Sophomore guard Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) added nine points.
Ike Hester add 14 points, Braden Olsen added 13, while Demetrius Mims tossed in 10 for the Golden Knights.
Gannon had a 36-31 lead at halftime.
Shepherd connected on 38.6 percent (22-57) from the floor with a 36.4 percent (12-33) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 80 percent (4-5) of their free throws.
Gannon shot 44.8 percent (26-58) from the floor with a 30 percent effort (6-20) from three-point range. The Golden Knights shot 83.3 percent (10-12) from the charity stripe.
Gannon had a 37-20 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced eight turnovers and committed 10.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Clarion at 7:30 p.m.
