SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore guard
Daniel McClain-Corley (Clinton, Md./Massanutten Military Academy) scored 21 points to lead Shepherd (5-2, 1-1 PSAC) to an 81-68 win over Clarion (4-3, 0-2 PSAC) in PSAC men's basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday night.
McClain-Corley connected on 8-of-15 field goals and was 2-of-4 from three-point range. He was 3-of-4 from the foul line.
Senior guard
Cam Stephens (Bunker Hill, W.Va./Musselman) added 17 points. Senior forward
Kyle Daggett (Walkersville, Md./Walkersville) added 16 points and nine rebounds. Junior guard
Jon Preston (Brandywine, Md./Rock Creek Christian) added 10 points and eight rebounds.
Gerald Jarmon had a game-high 22 points for the Golden Eagles.
Shepherd had a 39-29 lead at the half.
Shepherd connected on 50 percent (28-56) from the floor with a 40 percent (8-20) performance from beyond the arc for the game. The Rams hit 81 percent (17-21) of their free throws.
Clarion shot 44.1 percent (26-59) from the floor with a 35.5 percent effort (6-20) from three-point range. The Golden Eagles shot 62.5 percent (5-8) from the charity stripe.
Shepherd had a 34-33 rebounding edge. Shepherd forced 13 turnovers and committed seven.
The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Virginia Union for a 1 p.m. contest.
