Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Tops Shippensburg

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Senior attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) and junior midfielder Katherine Campbell (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill) each recorded four goals and an assist to lead Shepherd (2-1, 2-1 PSAC East) to a 13-9 win over Shippensburg (0-4, 0-3 PSAC East) in PSAC women's lacrosse action at Shippensburg on Saturday. 

Junior midfielder Makenna Luzier (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro/St. Francis) netted two goals, while freshman attacker Shanna Dextradeur (Middletown, Md./Middletown), Freshman midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright), and freshman midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion) each tallied a goal. Junior attacker Haleigh Piccolo (Mt. Airy, Md./South Carroll) contributed an assist. 

Junior defender/midfielder Paige Alexander (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) paced the Rams with six draw controls. 

Gabby Savarino, Hannah Seifried, and Kayla Jones each had a pair of goals for the Raiders. Bailey Krahl added a goal and two assists.  

The game was tied at 5-all at halftime. 

Shepherd scored five unanswered goals to open the second half to take control of the contest. Campbell and Kelly each had a pair of goals during the run. 

Junior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded 15 saves for the Rams. Ally Wenela recorded five saves for the Raiders. 

Shippensburg had a 31-24 advantage in shots. Shippensburg was 13-of-13 in clears, while Shepherd was 20-of-24. The Raiders had a 14-10 edge in draw controls. Ground balls were even at 18 apiece. 

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to face 11th-ranked East Stroudsburg for a 1 p.m. contest.
