Shippensburg Downs Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. –  Alana Cardaci, Hannah Seifried, and Gabby Savarino each scored three goals to lead Shippensburg (3-7, 3-6 PSAC East) to a 12-9 win over Shepherd (3-6, 3-6 PSAC East)  in PSAC women's lacrosse action at Ram Stadium on Wednesday.

Junior midfielder Maggie Luzier (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro/St. Francis) had three goals and an assist to lead Shepherd.  

Freshman attacker Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep) had two goals and an assist, while senior attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) added a goal and an assist. Lassahn added a match-high five draw controls.

Freshman midfielder Kaiya Edwards (Brogue, Pa./Red Lion), freshman attacker Shanna Dextradeur (Middletown, Md./Middletown) and junior midfielder/defender Paige Alexander (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) each netted a goal. Junior midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century) contributed a pair of assists. Junior defender Elizabeth Tyler (Leesburg, Va./Loudoun County) recorded a match-high five ground balls.

Shippensburg had a 7-6 advantage at halftime. 

The Raiders scored the first three goals of the second half and Shepherd could not recover.

Junior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded 17 saves for the Rams. Ally Weneta recorded 11 saves for the Raiders.

Shippensburg had a 33-26 edge in shots. Shippensburg was 18-of-21 in clears, while Shepherd was 17-of-20. Shippensburg had a 13-10 advantage in draw controls and a 21-19 edge in ground balls.

The Rams return to action on Friday when they travel to Lock Haven for a 5 p.m. contest.
