Shepherd Women’s Lacrosse Edged by Millersville

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Gillian Zimmerman scored a free position goal with 3:41 remaining in regulation to lift Millersville (2-5, 2-4 PSAC East) to an 11-10 win over Shepherd (2-4, 2-4 PSAC East)  in PSAC women's lacrosse action on Senior Day at Ram Stadium on Saturday. 

Junior midfielder Makenna Luzier (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro/St. Francis) and freshman attacker Sam Lassahn (Baltimore, Md./Concordia Prep) each had two goals and an assist to lead the Rams. Junior midfielder Maddison Young (Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle) added a pair of goals. 

Junior midfielder Maggie Luzier (Boonsboro, Md./Boonsboro/St. Francis), junior midfielder Katherine Campbell (Montgomery Village, Md./Watkins Mill), senior attacker Sidney Kelly (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown), junior midfielder Kira Barth (Sykesville, Md./Century) each added a goal. 

Senior attacker Regan Brown (Westminster, Md./Manchester Valley) and freshman midfielder Paige Stoner (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) each had an assist. 

Grace Cobaugh had three goals and an assist and Sara Burney added three goals to lead the Marauders. 

Millersville had an 8-4 lead at the half with Cobaugh scoring three first-half goals. 

Trailing 10-5 in the second half, Shepherd scored five consecutive goals to tie the game. Lassahn scored a pair of goals and assisted on another during the run. She tied the game on an unassisted tally with 5:09 left. 

Junior goalkeeper Hailey Bennett (Westminster, Md./Winters Mill) recorded 11 saves for the Rams. Kaleigh Sasdelli recorded 10 saves for the Marauders. 

Millersville had a 27-24 edge in shots. Millersville was 20-of-22 in clears, while Shepherd was 14-of-24. Shepherd had a 13-10 advantage in draw controls while Millersville had a 24-19 edge in ground balls. 

The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Kutztown for a 4 p.m. contest. 

Notes: Regan Brown was Shepherd's lone honoree on Senior Day … junior netminder Hailey Bennett (303) went over 300 saves for her career with her 11 saves.
